In today's world, the widely-accepted standard of beauty in the Western world is the supermodel who stands five foot eleven, has less than 10% body fat, and with a waist measurement like a child. This shows that over the six hundred years that have passed since the Renaissance, the ideal of a beautiful woman has changed from larger, softer figures with ample curves and representing chastity and piety, to an image of a very slim, toned, lean woman who must always be attractive in an obviously sexual way.
For example, when one looks at Boticelli's painting of the goddess of love and beauty in his painting "Venus and Mars", one notices her "clear, fair white skin, perfectly symmetrical features, high forehead, sharply defined chin, strawberry blonde hair, high delicate eyebrows, strong nose, narrow mouth, full lips, full figure, ample bosom, rounded abdomen, and wide hips." Latest fashion trends can be found in various styles out in the streets. Fashion trends tend to change not only with the seasons but also annually with new styles introduced as well as old ones revived. Clothes seen in the streets that the people wear may not seem as the new clothes that just came out from the catwalk, however these clothes can create the latest trend. Wearing designer shoes, bags, accessories, and clothes does not always make you look like a fashion leader. Wearing clothes with the influence of your own style, personalities, and interests will create the true latest trend. Such people who enjoy independent style are the true members of the youth subculture. To identify themselves as members, teenagers often create distinctive looks by clothes, hairstyles, footwear, and etc which are visible on the streets in our daily lives.
